Looks like another win for Black Hippy as Schoolboy Q takes the Best Indie Album of the Year after Kendrick took Major Album. Even though it was released early last year, we ALL are still bumping these jams. This will hold us down until his major label’s debut project, entitled Oxymoron drops sometime in 2013.

The Cloudmusiq fans made the right choice when it came to this category. There were A LOT of great contenders but in the end Kendrick pulled out with the victory. Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City serves as Kendrick’s major label debut after signing to Aftermath and Interscope Records. And if for some strange reason you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, get it HERE.

Artist Submission Of The Year: Cliché – Empty Promises

Cliché took the win with 617 votes! Damn, thats an incredible feat in itself. Shoutout to the fans of Cliché and the White Lighter Club. Y’all have some loyal supporters.  However, I gotta give credit to both Cliché and JMIC for putting on a close and interesting battle for this category. To me, you guys both deserve the honor.

“Empty Promises” was laced with smooth production integrated with Cliché’s display of conscious lyricism and “fuck-all” delivery. This track is gonna be featured on Cliché’s upcoming mixtape, Fathered by Reality, dropping in early 2012. The buzz is undeniable. I’m definitely jumping on the bandwagon. Stay Tuned.

Runner Up: JMIC – Let My Tape Rock (Feat. XV)

This came down to only ONE vote, but Big Sean’s banger featuring Nicki Minaj outlasted The Throne’s “N***** in Paris” 72 to 71. All of the nominations all have what it takes to get the party jumping, this year belonged to DANCE. Damn, Nicki has some nice ASSets.

RUNNER-UP: Jay-Z & Kanye West – N***** in Paris

R&B Artist Of The Year: Frank Ocean

2011 was a very promising year for upcoming R&B artists such as The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, & JMSN. However, it was Frank’s release of his his free album, Nostalgia, ULTRA, followed by the release of the Lonny Breaux Collection, containing some dope unreleased gems, that edged him out over the mysterious R&B crooner, The Weeknd. To me, they’re both equally dope in their own right and both deserving of R&B Artist Of The Year.

Runner Up: The Weeknd

I felt like Jay should have been on here since Kanye was too. They both equally worked hard but I am glad everyone saw Kanye as Hip Hop artist of the year anyway because Watch the Throne was a great album. He had a pretty large margin of victory with Drake almost 10% behind him.

Runner Up: Drake

Ok so it was an alright video. Vampires, Cudi, and Fright Night (still haven’t seen it). I preferably liked the Otis video more but hey, what more can I say, we killin’ em? Congrats to KiD CuDi on the win. I hope the WZRD is album of the year though.

Even though The Weeknd put out THREE mixtapes in 2010, we had to only post one to make it even. From The House of Balloons to Thursday to his recent Echoes of Silence, The Weeknd has had a pretty good year. So in case you haven’t gotten this mixtape yet, you can get it below.

Winning by a nose with 19% of the votes, J Cole! I can’t say that he doesn’t deserve this award. He has worked hard, especially this year. Selling over 200k in your first week in this day and age is amazing. I do feel that Kendrick Lamar dropped a better project with Section.80, but that’s just my opinion.
